Professor Lidia Morawska receives Planetary Health Award in Monaco

On November 7, 2024, Professor Lidia Morawska has been honored for her international work on air quality, receiving the 2024 Planetary Health Award from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in Monte Carlo. This prestigious award is given annually to only three international figures or organizations that have made significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development, recognizing their substantial impact on environmental and health issues.

Professor Morawska was presented with the award by Prince Albert II himself during the Monte Carlo ceremony. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude and pride for receiving this honor and emphasized her work’s vision: to contribute to keeping the planet habitable with clean air and pollution-free indoor spaces. She thanked her colleagues worldwide, interdisciplinary collaborators, and her students, acknowledging that without their support, her achievements would not have been possible.

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation was created in 2006 as a global non-profit organisation dedicated to environment protection and sustainable development. It contributes to planetary health by co-creating and supporting projects in many countries, recognising and encouraging those working in environmental fields, and raising awareness in key areas including climate change, biodiversity and water resources.

We are immensely proud of Professor Morawska’s achievements and look forward to her future contributions in the field of environment and climate. Her work has made an indelible contribution not only to ACC-AQSM but also to global environmental health and sustainable development.
